BACK TO PROJECTS INDEX St. Georges Natatorium & Campus Center Mohlin & Company was the Structural Engineer of Record for this 31,700 S.F., $6,700,000 Natatorium and Campus Center at St. George's School in Newport, RI. This pool/campus life project was difficult because it was requested that the design team construct two buildings in tight spaces while renovating other facilities to create a unified space that served both the athletic and art programs. In addition, internal traffic patterns had to be redesigned in the 4-building complex to produce one integrated, efficient, and code-compliant facility. The new natatorium features a glass enclosed atrium lobby, an 8-lane, 25 yard pool with an electronic scoreboard, upper-level seating for 150 spectators, a director's office and 4 new locker rooms. The new Campus Center includes a spacious Great Room with exposed timber beams, floor-to-ceiling windows and a gas fireplace, game room, office, meeting room, cafŽ with kitchen, food court and outdoor plaza and a storage room. Existing building renovations included a new elevator, renovation of several locker rooms, enlarging the fitness center, and providing walk-through access from the older buildings directly to the pool and great room. Mohlin & Company provided the conceptual design to develop early construction costs, final detailed design & construction administrative services while sticking to an aggressive construction schedule and accommodating the ongoing needs of the School in the process.
